DECEMBER 2024

In our final week, following some festive activities, we ended the year with the Valentina Baruffi´s thesis defense on Modelling Neuro-Immune Interactions in Parkinson´s Disease Using an Autologous-Based iPSC System.

Following this head-turning presentation (and some champagne!) we are proud to announce her successful award of the PhD. Bravo, Doctor Baruffi!

NOVEMBER 2024

2024 RegenBell Symposium on Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine. In this two day information-packed collective, attracting science from here in Barcelona and beyond, our PhD student Valentina Baruffi conducted a talk on her thesis work on Microglia and T-Cell contribution to Parkinson’s Pathology.

Moreover, as the lunch break gave even more opportunity for science, poster presentations from David Piñol, Aurora Scrivo, Veronica Testa, Neus Otero and Jara Montero Muñoz turned heads among other scientists. We were also very pleased to meet other inspiring researchers from across Europe!

NOVEMBER 2024

The ninth edition of the IDIBELL PhD Day was held at the Bellvitge Campus of the UB, where all our PhD students presented posters and oral presentations.

A big well done to David Piñol, Veronica Testa, and Jara Montero Muñoz… but especially to Valentina Baruffi – who was awarded the prize of “Best Oral Presentation”!

OCTOBER 2024

EMBO Workshop (Capri, Italy): Unlocking human brain complexity using 3D culture and single-cell omics.

PhD student Veronica Testa produced and presented a poster on the contribution of astrocytes and microglia to PD pathology using hiPSC modelling and scRNA sequencing. Favulosa!

SEPTEMBER 2024

SSIEM Anual Symposium in Porto, Portugal. PhD student David Piñol presented, updating attendees on the results from his thesis work on 3D modelling of THD pathology using patient-derived brain organoids.

Great Work David!
