Research in Consiglio’s group aims to develop advanced in vitro human disease models including 3D brain organoids that could potentially have important clinical outcomes such as development of diagnostic tools and novel therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease (PD).

Additionally to PD, we are also working on Tyrosine Hydroxylase deficiency (THD) that is a rare genetic disease which causes a Pediatric Parkinsonism (PP).

Recently, in collaboration with Dr. Dalmau and Dr. Martínez from the Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, we are exploring the possibility to develop a stem cell-based diagnostic method for autoimmune encephalitis detection.
